Kathy Prophet grew up in Ontario, Canada, but calls Mount Tremblant her hometown hill. She is a Level IIII instructor (full cert in U.S.), Level IIII Course Conductor (like an examiner), former Technical committee member and Canadian Interski Team member. Prophet is currently the chairperson of the Women in Skiing Initiative, a sub-committee sponsored by CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance).

Alison Plasto hails from a small country town in New South Wales, Australia. Her background is in marketing and communications, but her passion is collecting stories that empower people. “There’s a lovely expression,” Plasto says, “that it’s possible to fall in love with anyone once you hear their story.” She went to film school and recently produced and shot a short film on women conquering Australia’s 7 Peaks. She has been teaching skiing for nine seasons and coaches for Mount Hotham’s Women’s Week Ski Improvement Program.

Top female ski pros gathered to educate and inspire industry women at the 3rd annual Women’s Summit at Mammoth Mountain, California, last week.

 

The national event was organized by PSIA Alpine Team member Heidi Ettlinger and PSIA-AASI Western Division Education Staff members Fran Tone and Julie Matises. The Summit is endorsed by multiple professional organizations including the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and the National Ski Patrol (NSP). It provides educational opportunities for all female professionals across the snowsports industry, including alpine, telemark, and nordic instructors; patrollers; alpine ski coaches; and those aspiring to resort management positions.

WOMEN’S SUMMIT OFFERS CHANCES TO FINE-TUNE SKIING SKILLS AND LEARN LEADERSHIP.

 

Learning from and interacting with your peers and those whom you find inspirational is always one of the most rewarding aspects of any conference.  So it was taht nearly 70 women journeyed to Squaw Valley, California to particpate in the annual Women's Summit.

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. — The Professional Ski Instructors of America-Western Division’s three-day Women’s Summit was held at Squaw Valley March 9-11.

 

The program was expanded this year to include ski patrollers and alpine ski coaches from across the snowsports industry and was endorsed by the United States Ski & Snowboard Association and the National Ski Patrol.

 

The Summit provided opportunities for industry professionals to train with elite coaches, share ideas, influence the future, and network with women colleagues in cross-industry fields.
